ConsortiumMeeting & Capacity Building Workshops
1. Consortium Meeting 1 (CM1)
Date: 19 – 20 March 2024; Venue: NMIMS deemed to be University, India
The first Consortium Meeting (CM1), hosted by Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) deemed to be University, India, kicked off on 19th March 2024. Over the course of two days, the international team discussed the proejct's deliverables, milestones, deadlines, and other important matters related to the ERASMUS+ OPEN ASIA project. This international team comprised of researchers from the European Policy Development and Research Institute, Slovenia, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, the Netherlands, Tampere University, Finland, NMIMS deemed to be University, India, Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology (Deemed to be University), India, and the Malaysian counterparts comprising of Universiti Malaya, Universiti Malaysia Sabah and Universiti Malaysia Sarawak.

2. Open Science Forum (OSF1)
Date: 21 – 22 March 2024; Venue: NMIMS deemed to be University, India

3. Study Visit – Infrastructure (UWG-1)
Date: 15 - 19 April 2024; Venue: Tampere University, Finland
The Study Visit for Infrastructure was organised between 15 and 19 April 2024, and held in Tampere University, Finland. The study visit provided an opportunity for Malaysia and India delegates to learn best practices of how Open Science is done in Europe, especially in Finland.

4. Capacity Building Workshop (UWG-2)
Date: 17 - 21 June 2025; Venue: Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, The Netherlands
Delegates for the OPEN ASIA project visited the Netherlands to explore the Science Shop concept and practices at the Athena Institute, VU Amsterdam. The study trip provided a deep dive into the Science Shop model and definitions, mechanisms to implement Science Ship and how the concept is embedded as part of University curriculum. The delegates also spent their time brainstorming the Science Shop concept based on each institutions existing practices and initiatives. Interestingly, the delegates also had an opportunity to participate in the Science Shop carnival which was held in a public library in Amsterdam.

5. Consortium Meeting 2 (CM2)
Date: 21 - 22 October 2024; Venue: Universiti Malaya, Malaysia
The second Consortium Meeting (CM2), was hosted by Universiti Malaya, Malaysia. At the meeting, key partners engaged in discussions of the progress of each work package, shared insights, provided updates on the project milestones and timelines, as well as brainstormed strategies to acheive project deliverables in a timely manner.

6. Open Science Forum (OSF2)
Date: 23 - 24 October 2024; Venue: Universiti Malaya, Malaysia
The second Open Science Forum held on 23rd & 24th October 2024 provided an engaging platform for researchers, policymakers, and technology experts to discuss the latest topics, issues and trends in Open Science, and build consensus on Open Science practices.

7. Capacity Building Workshop (UWG-3)
Date: 11 - 15 November 2024; Venue: International School for Social and Business Studies, Slovenia
Key representatives from the Open Asia consortium partners spent five working days in Slovenia to participate in a series of brainstorming, discussions and sharing sessions. The study visit focused on several key topics such as Open Science infrastructure development, Open Access, Open Science framework and Open Science curriculum.

8. Consortium Meeting 3 (CM3)
Date: 24-25 February 2025; Venue: Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology, India
The third Consortium Meeting (CM3), was hosted by Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, India. The meeting served as a venue for progress updates and forthcoming strategy brainstorming to overcome any challenges faced in achieving milestones within the stipulated timeline.

9. Open Science Forum (OSF3)
Date: 26 - 27 February 2025; Venue: Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology, India

10. Consortium Meeting 4 (CM4)
Date: 22 - 23 September 2025; Venue: Universiti Malaysia Sabah, Malaysia
The OPEN-ASIA consortium reconvened for its 4th meeting, hosted by Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) on the 22nd and 23rd of September 2025. The gathering brought together project partners from across Europe and Asia, including representatives from Universiti Tenaga Malaysia, University of Malaya, Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology (India), VU University (Netherlands), and Tampere University (Finland).
The two-day agenda ensured that consortium members not only addressed high-level policy frameworks but also engaged in on-the-ground site visits to UMS facilities, including the U-Science Centre and the Borneo Marine Research Institute, to observe local open science initiatives in action.

11. Open Science Forum (OSF4)
Date: 24 - 25 September 2025; Venue: Universiti Malaysia Sabah, Malaysia
